Tournament Baseball

There has been a movement to start a tournament baseball program in addition to Little League this year, in order to provide players the opportunity for even more games in a more competitive setting.  Being that this is its first year, Scappoose Tournament Baseball (STB) organizers have been working together with the high school program and Little League to establish a cohesive system where all kids can play Little League, and those who want extra games can do STB without interfering with their Little League schedule.

Note from Coach Cam on STB (Head Coach, Scappoose High School Baseball) -
Hey everyone - I wanted to give an update about Tournament Baseball as well.  As you know, starting this year Scappoose Little League and Scappoose Tournament Baseball are working together to make sure that our youth are well prepared for high school baseball.

We have decided to combine the tournament team tryouts with these Little League tryouts.
We will have separate STB evaluators there during the tryouts, who will evaluate every kid that attends, and will make calls afterward to offer spots on the various teams.  To learn more about STB, visit the website:

We have planned out schedules for these tournament teams such that there will be no conflicts with Little League games.  See below for a breakdown of the probable schedules.  Each date listed means that there would be a tournament that weekend.  We have committed to some of these tournaments, but this is not set in stone.
  • 7th/8th grade team: 3/29, 4/27, 5/11, 5/25, 7/6  (this schedule will also allow 8th graders to play for the high school summer ball team without conflicts)
  • 11/12 year-old team: 3/22, 5/25, 6/22, 6/29, 7/20
  • 10U team: Depends on interest.  Likely 2-4 tournaments after completion of Little League season
I have also been working hard on finding coaches for these teams, and am excited about the people we've found.  We have some high-level coaches who have committed to coach these teams and who are excited to work with your kids.

Again - the purpose of this is only to be an extra option to augment Little League as desired.  We find it important that all players play on Little League teams, and I definitely understand that some families will want to keep their commitment to just that.  Regardless of what your kid ends up playing this spring, I am excited to bring them all into our high school program one day.
