Fall Ball Softball Signups

We’re excited to report that we will attempt a Scappoose Minors & Majors Fall Softball league.  Due to the ever changing dynamics around COVID-19, our plan is to have training sessions twice a week to help build the girls skills and game knowledge.

We want to get the kids on the field to work on mechanics and to have some fun in a safe and controlled environment.  We also wish to limit upfront costs for everyone, as things could change quickly, requiring a modified season, etc.

Here are some basics:

  • No upfront cost.  Rather, we will charge on a per game basis.  With the goal to minimize costs as much as possible, but please plan on ~$5 per game (we will confirm once the season is formally kicked off – we’re hoping to reduce this further)
  • Schedule:  1-2 practices during the week (starting the first week of September)
  • Please sign your child up (https://forms.gle/sfBuNoyJWyc3gvaH8) for the division they plan to play next spring (Minors & Majors only, no Farm Ball or Tee Ball).  Signups end Friday Sept 4.
  • No sharing of equipment will be allowed, which means everyone will need their own helmets, bats, gloves and water bottles.  Catchers gear will be challenging…we will start by requiring kids to have their own catchers gear if they want to catch
  • Coaches will be volunteers.
  • There will be no tryouts.  Everyone is welcome.
  • We will combine training sessions for minors and majors. If we get enough girls we can scrimmage at practices.
  • Flexibility and patience will be required by the players, parents and coaches in order for this to work successfully.  Again, our goal is to get the kids on the field, working on mechanics and re-discovering the joy of softball in a fun/safe environment

To make this a safe environment, we need everyone’s support.  We understand that everyone has different opinions on masks, social distancing, etc., but to play in Scappoose Fall Ball, the league’s requirements must be followed.  If you or your child do not feel comfortable supporting these requirements, we kindly ask that you not participate.

Requirements:

  • COVID-19 Waiver Form, each player/parent must sign
  • Social distancing will be enforced, no exceptions
    • Masks are required when not on the field for players and coaches.
    • Players must wear masks coming and going to the fields once in the park.
    • Spectators must wear masks and practice 6’ social distancing rules.
  • If anyone is showing any COVID-19 symptoms, please do not jeopardize others, stay home and quarantine
  • If your child has any noticeable symptoms, they will be asked to leave immediately.  Please don’t put the coaches in a position to make this call.  We understand we’ll be in normal cold season and it’s hard to decipher, but we will error on the side of caution.

My ultimate goal is to bond the girls and show them how fun and successful softball can be. I want to help them build their skills and be strong  and focus on the field.

Thank you for your time, we hope to see you on the field this fall, and take care,
